Tehran Times - Persepolis football team came from behind to defeat Paykan 2-1 in Iran Professional League (IPL) here on Monday.
In the match was attended by 15,000 spectators at the Azadi Stadium, Shahin Saghebi gave the visiting team the lead with three minutes before the half time.
Kamal Kamyabinia was on target with a header in the 77th minute.
Ali Alipour scored the winner in the 79th minute with a powerful shot that Paykan goalkeeper Vahid Sheikhveisi failed to punch it clear.
“I am very satisfied with this win because we faced shortage of players in this match,” Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said in the post-match news conference.
“I enjoyed my team’s performance. We put our opponents under pressure despite our players’ tiredness,” he added.
Persepolis are fourth in the IPL table with 20 points, six points behind leaders Padideh.
