Tasnim – Head of Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) Mehdi Taj said Carlos Queiroz has extended his contract with Iran until the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
Queiroz had no contract with Iran after the 2018 World Cup in Russia and now the Portuguese has penned a contract until the AFC Asian Cup, according to Taj.
Iran has been drawn in Group D along with Yemen, Iraq and Vietnam in the AFC Asian Cup.
In the previous edition, Iran failed to advance to the semi-final under guidance of Queiroz after being defeated by Iraq in penalty shootout.
