PLDC – Iran national football team goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand says ex-Netherlands custodian Edwin van der Sar is his childhood idol.
Beiranvand disappointed five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, saving his penalty in the match against Portugal.
“I am vey happy to save Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty because he is one of the best players in the world,” Beiranvand said.
Asked him who is his idol, Beiranvand said, “In the past, Edwin van der Sar was my childhood idol and at the moment Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is,” he added.
Beiranvand also says he dreams of playing in Seria A.
“Playing in the Italian clubs is my dream. Hopefully I can play in an Italian team as soon as possible,” the Persepolis keeper said.
