Alireza Jahanbakhsh - Brighton

HITC - Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion could reportedly splash the cash with AZ Alkmaar winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh in demand.

Back in the summer of 2015, Brighton and Hove Albion were close to signing a little-known Iranian winger by the name of Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

But, as reported by the Argus, he rejected a £1.4 million move from NEC Nijmegen, which might have had something to do with the fact that Brighton had finished 20th in the previous Championship season and came far too close for comfort to relegation to League One.

These days, however, the Seagulls are planning for their second successive Premier League campaign and therefore a move to the Amex should, on paper, be far more tempting for a player Brighton have continued to scout over the last three years.

As reported by Voetbal Inside, Brighton are in talks with AZ Alkmaar about potentially signing the 24-year-old, although he would cost a lot more than £1.4 million now.

Jahanbakhsh was in inspired form during the 2017/18 season, winning the Eredivisie Golden Boot after netting 21 goals in 33 games from the right wing, even drawing comparisons with one Mo Salah.

As a result, Voetbal Inside are reporting that AZ will now demand £22 million for their prized asset, whose value could increase further should he cause a splash against Portugal and Spain at the World Cup.

If Brighton pull off the deal, Jahanbakhsh would replace fellow Eredivisie export Jurgen Locadia as their all-time record signing.
