Tehran Times - President Hassan Rouhani welcomed Iran national football team, also known as Team Melli, on Sunday.
In addition to Iranian players, coaching staff, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Masoud Soltanifar and head of Iran Football Federation Mehdi Taj were also present.
“I would like to express my happiness to participate at Team Melli’s farewell ceremony. I want to thank you because you made Iranian people happy by booking a place in the 2018 World Cup,” Rouhani said.
“You will have to do your best in the competition and I believe that you can shine at the World Cup, however Team Melli have been drawn in a difficult group,” the President added.
Rouhani was handed Iran national football team No 12 jersey in the meeting.
