Tehran Times - Iran women's futsal player Feresheh Karimi says that it doesn’t matter who scores in the 2018 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship but all that matters is to defend title in the competition.
Team Melli will participate in the 2018 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship which will be held in May in Thailand.
Iran have been drawn in Group D along with Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
Iranian women’s futsal team claimed the title of the first edition which was held in Malaysia in 2015.
The 29-year-old scored six goals in the campaign but undoubtedly her most important was the one she notched in the final, a strike which proved enough to hand Team Melli the title.
“The second edition will bring more teams together and I think we will have a difficult task to defend our title,” Karimi said in an interview with Mehr news agency.
“To win the title and to book a place in the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is very important and it’s our main goal but this edition is harder than the previous edition,” Karimi declared.
“I hope to score goals for Team Melli but it doesn’t matter who scores in Team Melli but all that matters is to defend title in the competition. Winning the title in more important than to be named as the tournament’s topscorer,” she added.
“My biggest challenge is winning the title and I will do my best to claim that for the second edition in a row,” Karimi concluded.
