Tehran Times - Former Team Melli and Persepolis defender Afshin Peyrovani has returned to elite football as sporting director with the Iran league champions.
Peyrovani replaced Mahmoud Khordbin in the post on Saturday.
Persepolis acting president Hamidreza Garshasbi has appointed Peyrovani to the role.
Peyrovani, 47, is a familiar face for Persepolis’s fans since he has played in the Iranian giant for 11 years from 1993 to 2004.
He has also coached Persepolis for a while after the departure of Afshin Ghotbi in November 2008.
The former defender has worked as sporting director of Iran national football team in 2016.
Peyrovani has 66 caps for Team Melli and was a participant at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
