AFC - Group E of the AFC U-19 Championship 2018 is set for a tantalising end after Syria beat Palestine 3-2 while Jordan and Islamic Republic of Iran played to a 0-0 draw at the Prince Mohammad International Stadium on Monday.
Jordan and Syria are tied on four points with Jordan ahead on goal difference while Iran have two points after two matches.
Jordan and Syria meet on Wednesday while Iran will play Palestine, who have been eliminated after suffering two defeats.
Abdulhadi Shalha scored in either half and Amar Ramadan's late strike was enough to steer Syria to victory against Palestine.
Syria, who held Iran 1-1 in their opening match, went ahead in the 17th minute through Shalha, to give them a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Palestine fought back and their efforts paid off in the 58th minute when Mohammed Hammo found a way past Syria goalkeeper Okba Alsalieh.
They doubled their lead in the 84th minute with Ahmed Irshaid finding the net to put Palestine in front for the first time in the match.
Their joy was shortlived as Syria clawed their way back with goals from Shalha (88th) and Ramadan's winner four minutes into added-on time.
Jordan delivered a huge dent to Iran's qualification hopes when they held them to a 0-0 draw.
Both sides were evenly matched and neither could find a breakthrough as they shared the spoils after 90 minutes.
