Tasnim - Joan Cusco, Beach Soccer Worldwide's Executive Vice-president and CEO, says Iran has a stable infrastructure to host the World Cup.
The Spaniard is in Dubai at the moment to attend the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, where Brazil will face Portugal in the final match and Iran meet Russia in the third-placed contest on Saturday.
“Iran has been one the best teams in the world over the past several years. The Iranian team was physically strong at the first but the team takes advantage of highly skilled players as well,” Cusco told in an interview with the Tasnim news agency.
“Iran takes advantage of a well-organized plan in beach soccer. The country has two professional men’s and women’s league. The national teams is supported by the domestic league. Iran’s league is undoubtedly one of the best leagues in the world and we are thankful for what they've done so far,” he added.
Cusco lauded Paria Shahriari, head of Beach Soccer for the Iran Football Federation, for her commitment to the sport.
“Mrs. Shahriari is a role model because of her dedication to beach soccer. She has helped beach soccer to progress in a special way,” he added.
Asked him if Iran can host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Cusco said, “Why not. Iran has successfully hosted an international tournament and plans to host more international events. Iran can host the intercontinental cup as well.”
