Tasnim - Persepolis football team started the 2017-18 Iran Professional League (IPL) season with a 2-0 win over Foolad here on Thursday.
Vahid Amiri gave Persepolis a lead just nine minutes into the match and Shoja Khalilzadeh found the back of the net with a header in the 53rd minute.
Persepolis was reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute after Ali Alipour received his second yellow card.
Elsewhere, Siahjamegan drew 2-2 with Zob Ahan, Esteghlal Khuzestan edged past Tractor Sazi and Naft Tehran defeated Sepidrood Rasht 2-1.
On Friday, Gostaresh Foolad will host Pars Jonoubi Jam, Sepahan will play Saipa, Paykan will meet Padideh and Sanat Naft will face Esteghlal.
