Tasnim – Ex-Team Melli captain Javad Nekounam has been shortlisted to take charge of Tractor Sazi of Tabriz football team.
The Tabriz-based football team parted company with Amir Ghalenoei on Friday after he failed to meet the club’s expectations.
Tractor Sazi finished in third place in Iran Professional League (IPL).
Under leadership of Ghalenoei, Tractor Sazi also lost to Naft Tehran 1-0 in the final match of the Iran’s Hazfi Cup.
Nekounam has been Carlos Queiroz's assistant for a short time.
He is Iran’s most capped player with 151 matches.
Nekounam started his playing career in Iran’s Pas and has played for Osasuna seven years.
He has also played for the UAE’s clubs Al-Wahda, Al-Sharjah, Iran’s Esteghlal and Saipa, Kuwaiti club Al-Kuwait, and Qatar’s Al-Arabi.
