Tehran Times - Ali Daei has been shortlisted to take charge of Saipa football team.

Saipa parted company with Hossein Faraki by mutual consent last week after the team finished 13th in the Iran Professional League (IPL).

Daei, who announced his retirement as Naft Tehran coach after winning Hazfi Cup on Thursday, has reportedly reached an agreement with Saipa.

Former Persepolis and Saba coach stepped down from his role due to financial problems.

Ex-Iran striker Daei led Saipa win Iran Professional League in 2006-07.

The former captain of the Iran national football team, who has played for clubs such as Bayern Munich and Hertha BSC, is the world's all-time leading goalscorer in men's international matches.

Tractor Sazi coach Amir Ghalenoei is also a candidate to take charge of Saipa.
