Tasnim - Iran beach soccer goalkeeper Peyman Hosseini believes that they have potential to book a place in the 2017 Beach Soccer World Cup semi-final.
Team Melli defeated its African opponent 2-1 on penalties after a thrilling 4-4 draw to claim the runner-up spot in Group B and reach the last eight at the National Beach Soccer Arena in Nassau.
Iran will play Switzerland in quarter-final on May 4.
“It was a tough match against Nigeria but we are happy since we emerged victorious from a difficult battle. It was a do-or-die match for us against Nigeria after we lost to Italy,” Hosseini told Iran Football Federation’s website.
“Nigeria had chance of qualifying for the next stage and played with its best. Now, we’ve advanced to quarters and concentrate on the match against Switzerland,” the goalie added.
“Switzerland is an experienced team and takes advantage of professional players such as Dejan Stankovic but we also have several good players and can defeat the team in quarters,” Hosseini concluded.
