AFC - Ismail Ahmed headed home 14 minutes from time to rescue a point for last year’s AFC Champions League runners-up Al Ain as Zoran Mamic’s side shared the points with Zobahan from the Islamic Republic of Iran thanks to a 1-1 draw at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Tuesday.
Jerry Bengtson gave the Iranians the lead against the run of play in the 57th minute when he slid in to score from close range after Al Ain had failed to turn their dominance into goals.
But Ahmed saved a point for the club from the United Arab Emirates when he rose highest to meet Bandar Mohamed’s corner and power a header past Mahammadrashid Mazaheri in the Zobahan goal.
