AFC - The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex will see a clash of Asian giants on Tuesday in Group D when Tehran powerhouse Persepolis face Saudi heavyweights Al Hilal in what looks to be one of the stand-out ties of Matchday One.
Persepolis lost out on the 2015-16 Persian Gulf Pro League on goal difference to Esteghlal Khouzestan, but their second-place finish ensured a return to the continental stage after missing out last year.
Two-time Asian champions Al Hilal do hold the psychological edge over Persepolis as far as the form book is concerned having won two and drawn one of their four previous AFC Champions league encounters. The Riyadh club also eliminated Persepolis in the Round of 16 two years ago in a 3-1 aggregate win.
