Tasnim - Iranian international referee Alireza Faghani will most likely officiate Tehran derby between Persepolis and Esteghlal next month.
Ashkan Khorshidi and Bijan Heydari have been also nominated to officiate the derby but the referees have never whistled the important match so far.
Alireza Faghani made history by becoming the first Asian referee to officiate the final of a Men's Olympic.
The 84th derby will be held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on February 12.
Esteghlal leads the head to head results in competitive matches with 24 wins to Persepolis's 20, while 39 matches ended in a draw.
