PLDC - Tehran, Mehdi Mohammad Nabi, the general secretary of Iran Football Federation, announced the cancellation of the friendly match with USA and said, “Because of the long distance between the two countries and squeeze of Iran’s camps, this game is not possible for us in the next year, but we want to play against Spain and Portugal on their lands.

Mehdi Mohammad Nabi said, “Team Melli is scheduled to have 6 friendly matches. According to the schedule, we will have three camps in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil; all are scheduled after April 9, 2014. Therefore, with regard to the long distance between the two countries and also the time limit between this game and the beginning of the World Cup, I can say that the match against USA will not take place.”
