TEHRANTIMES - Iran national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz believes that Guam football will grow in the near future despite 6-0 loss to Iran.
Iran thrashed Guam 6-0 in a World Cup qualifier in which both sides were reduced to 10 men at the National Football Stadium in the tiny Pacific Ocean island.
“I’m totally satisfied with the result and also my players’ performance. The most important thing against Guam was to get the three points ahead of two remaining games against India and Oman,” Queiroz told reporters in the post-match press conference.
“I would like to congratulate my players who gave their best on the pitch. Guam players fought until the end and I believe that football will grow in this island,” the Portuguese coach added.
“Now we will focus on the next game which is against India in Tehran. I hope we could continue our good run and take the three points in both of our remaining games,” he added.
Iran will take on India on March 26, 2016 before meeting Oman three days later.
