Jerry Bengtson

Paatoop.com - Honduran international Jerry Bengtson shared a few words after his goal that gave Persepolis one point in the Red-Blue Derby of Tehran.

Bengtson said, “We played a good match, and gave it our all against Esteghlal. We had good chances in the first half, but ultimately went into the locker-room with a goalless draw.”

He continued, “We got scored on early in the second half, then put lots of pressure on their net. Their goalkeeper (Rahmati) had a great match and saved his team. We should have scored earlier than we did.”

Regarding his goal that saved Persepolis, the Honduran big-man said, “My job as a forward is to score and it doesn’t matter how many minutes I play…I’m happy to have scored.”

When told that he is slowly falling into place in Persepolis, he responded, “I was not familiar with Iran’s football culture, and needed time to find myself. You can be certain that with more playing time I can be more effective and have better chemistry with my team.”

The Persepolis saviour concluded, “More important than me scoring, is the team’s success. It doesn’t matter if I score, or if one of my team-mates scores. The important thing is for us to succeed. However, as a forward, I like to score.”
