TEHRANTIMES - Esteghlal football club was held to a 1-1 draw by Esteghlal Khouzestan in the 9th week of the Iran Professional League on Wednesday in Tehran’s Azadi stadium.

Aghil Kaabi scored for the visitors in the 38th minute but Esteghlal Croatian striker Pero Pejic leveled the score one minute before the half time.

Esteghlal remained at the top of the table despite the draw with 18 points while Sepahan sits in the second with 16 points.

Elsewhere, Naft defeated Rah Ahan 2-0, Saba beat strugglers Foolad 2-1, Esteghlal Ahvaz suffered a 3-2 defeat against Padideh and Zob Ahan and Gostaresh Foold played out a goalless draw.
