Taremi misses Turkmenistan match in WCQ

Tehrantimes - Mehdi Taremi banned for one match after receiving a yellow card against Oman at the AFC World Cup qualifier on Thursday.


Taremi cannot play against Turkmenistan, scheduled for November 12 in Tehran, Iran.

Uzbek referee Valentin Kovalenko showed a yellow card to the 23-year-old striker in the 78th minute for violent conduct.

Iran football team was held to a 1-1 draw by Oman in the match held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Thursday.

Iran still sits top of Group D with eight points courtesy of a superior goal difference.
