TEHRANTIMES - Iran was held to a 2-2 draw by Saudi Arabia in the West Asian U-23 Football Federation (WAFF) Championship on Sunday.
In the match held at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Qatar, Arsalan Motahhari scored twice for the Iranian team in the 9th and 15th minutes.
Saudi Arabia pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 17th minute.
With eight minutes remaining, Saudi Arabia equalized the match.
WAFF is being held in Doha, Qatar from September 30 to October 14.
The competition will be used as a warm up for the 2016 AFC U23 Championship which is also held in Qatar. This competition is used as qualification for the Olympics football tournament.
