Tasnim - Iranian national football team captain Javad Nekounam said the upcoming friendly match against Chile can help Team Melli to prepare for the forthcoming matches.

Iran has been scheduled to face Chile in a friendly in St. Pölten, Austria on March 26th. However media reports suggest that the match will likely be called off due to financial restrictions.

“I’ve heard the friendly may be cancelled but it's not definite yet,” Nekounam told Tasnim news agency on Wednesday.

“I think the match can help Iran football team since Chile has great football players. Our young players can take advantage of this match and the cancellation of the friendly could damage our football,” he added.

Iran will also play Sweden in Stockholm’s Friends Arena on FIFA matchday March 31.
