PLDC - Tehran, Carlos Queiroz is currently only signed to be Team Melli's head coach till the end of  2014 World Cup Brazil; while, the issue of his contract extension has been one of the greatest preoccupations for the Iranian Football Federation.

In an interview with the media after the draw ceremony and specifying the opponents of Iran, Queiroz, who had traveled to Australia along with Kaffashian for the draw ceremony of the 2015 Asian Cup, openly announced that he would be the head coach of Team Melli only for the World Cup.

He did not say anything regarding his contract extension with Team Melli, and this only strengthened the rumour of his resignation from Team Melli. On the other hand, it is rumoured that the extension of his contract will cost about 30 billion Tomans (about 10,000,000 USD). The financial sources for this amount of money have not yet been provided for the Football Federation. This amount of money is not only for Queiroz himself; it also included the salaries of his assistants.

In response to the question whether the 30 billion Tomans for Queiroz’s contract extension is true or not, Ali Kafashyan said, “If we decide to extend his contract, we have to consider 15 to 16 billion Tomans for him and his assistants a year. Of course, this wage is in Dollars, and we are also presently facing problems to cover this amount. If the government does not guarantee the payment, we will face problems for Queiroz’s contract.”
