PLDC - Tehran, Seyed Jalal Hosseini scored his sixth international goal against Thailand yesterday, but he stressed that Team Melli will be facing tough opponents in Brazil.
The Persepolis and Team Melli center-back said, "I shot the ball with confidence and the Thai goalkeeper went the opposite direction."
He continued, "I always strive for Team Melli's success, and individual achievements aren't important to me."
Hosseini also said, "Thailand had come to Tehran to defend, to try and gain one point. In my opinion Thailand has improved, and you seen how Buriram United played against Esteghlal, just a few weeks ago. However, we must arrange some friendlies with powerful teams, as this match wasn't a real test for us."
Carlos Queiroz had said that this match was a wake-up call for Iran, and Hosseini confirmed, "This statement is 100% correct. We won't be playing Thailand in the World Cup; we will be playing the best teams in the world. Team Melli really needs to start playing friendlies against strong teams so we can go to the World Cup prepared."
