PLDC - Tehran, Amir Hossein Sadeghi has been fined 120 million Tomans.
In an interview, Mehdi Rahmati had said that Iran's qualification to the World Cup was based on luck. Sadeghi indirectly responded to Rahmati in his own interview and had said, "People must not say these things, as Team Melli tried really hard to make it to the World Cup."
After these interviews, Nekounam had confirmed that he agrees with Sadeghi, and Akbarpour and Omranzadeh had said that they agree with Rahmati's opinion. This obviously caused some friction in the Esteghlal camp, and many people speculated (rightfully so) that it is the players that are not in Team Melli, who are saying that Iran was lucky to qualify.
Ghalenoei reacted harshly to Sadeghi's comments and forbid him from having any further interviews regarding this matter.
Strangely enough, it doesn't end there, as Esteghlal has now decided to deduct 20% of Sadeghi's contract amount. It is believed that Sadeghi's contract is around 600 million Tomans, so the Esteghlal and Team Melli player will lose 120 million Tomans, simply for supporting his national team, and rejecting Rahmati's ridiculous and envious comment.
