Tasnim - Iran midfielder Ashkan Dejagah said that Team Melli (national Iranian football team) could qualify for the next stage of the 2014 World Cup.
Iran has been pitted against Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Nigeria in Group F of the World Cup.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina will play in the World Cup for the first time. It’s a new experience for them. In my opinion, We have to remain calm. If we play as good as we played in the World Cup qualifications, we will have a good chance to advance to the next stage,” the iconic midfielder stated.
“I think our friendly match with Guinea is a good test since they are an African team and play physically as the African teams play. Guinea is like Nigeria,” Ashkan Dejagah said in an interview with the Tasnim news agency upon arrival at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport on Monday.
“We are not behind schedule and we still have time to prepare for the 2014 World Cup. I am sure Carlos Queiroz will do his best to prepare the team for the competitions,” Fulham midfielder stated.
“Playing with each team will help the coaches to test the national team. I think the friendly matches against Guinea, Angola and Serbia will be useful for us. We have to enjoy playing Nigeria. Iran has to play with courage as we played against Lebanon, Doha and South Korea,” Dejagah said.
When asked him about the relegation-threatened Fulham, Dejagah said, “We are in a dangerous position now. We have so many difficult matches ahead of us, but I think Fulham can survive.”
