PLDC - Tehran, The Reds defeated Saba 3-1 in Azadi Stadium in the presence of 27,000 fans, and put themselves back in the title race.
Saba started the match offensively, and in the 10th minute, Farid Karimi had a one-on-one opportunity, but Nilson stopped the Qom striker.
Just two minutes later, Payam Sadeghian assisted Mohammad Abbaszadeh, and The Red Army scored its first goal.
Nilson stopped Reza Enayati's shot in the 19th minute, and showed to be Persepolis' best man on the field.
Alireza Noormohammadi scored for The Reds in the 33rd minute, and gave his team a 2-0 lead.
Payam Sadeghian made it 3-0 for Persepolis in the 88th minute, and Enayati managed to pull one back for Saba three minutes past regulation time (90+3).
Brazilian Nilson was without a doubt the man of the match, having made several spectacular saves and having shown excellent leadership.
Persepolis is now third in the IPL with 48 points, and only three points behind leaders Foolad, and ahead of them in goal difference.
On Thursday, February 27th, all of the Pro League teams will play, in a day that could totally change the look of the standings table.
