PLDC - Tehran, Mehdi Mohammad Nabi told the reporters that, “After the recent successes in international matches, the planning required for the presence of the Iran's U17 youth team in the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013, FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tahiti 2013, and Team Melli in 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil was done, but due to lack of funding and financial resources available, and in spite of all the efforts made, unfortunately we are not able to send the Iran's Beach soccer team to Brazil, U17 youth team to Germany Camp, and the Team Melli to Lisbon.”
After the advancement of Team Melli to the World Cup, Carlos Queiroz said that he only continued his cooperation with the Iranian Football Federation if his plans were implemented; otherwise, he was not ready to accompany Team Melli in the “recreational trip” to Brazil.
Under these conditions, it seems that financial support of the Iran Football Federation should be one of the main priorities of new government, so that Team Melli can advance for the first time through the group stage of the World Cup.
