PLDC - Tehran, The Team Melli care-taker said, "We will have six friendlies in the new Iranian calendar year (1393)."
After Iran's 2-1 victory over Thailand, Mehdi Mohammad Nabi said, "It was a very good result. This match was a preparatory encounter for us. However, Team Melli's real preparation will begin on April 9th of next year. We have estimated that we will play six friendlies."
When asked whether he is actually stating that Team Melli will not play any friendlies before Norooz (Iranian New Year), he replied, "With attention to the Iran Pro League schedule, and the AFC Champions League matches, we have decided that the players should fulfill their club duties. However, we will be playing the second-legs of the Asian Cup qualifications against Lebanon, Thailand and Kuwait (suggesting that these matches will be for WC preparation). If possible, we will try to schedule a friendly in the available time between league matches."
He continued, "We have picked the location for our camp in Brazil. Our representative is in Brazil, and Queiroz will travel to Brazil tomorrow to finalize the deal. We will hold a few camps so that we can be ready when we arrive in Brazil. We are waiting to see who we will be grouped with for the World Cup, so that we may pick our friendly opponents accordingly. "
Nabi emphasized, "We will hold a camp in Europe and play a few good European clubs. We will also be participate in a four-team tournament in the Americas."
When asked where this tournament will be held, Nabi replied, "It will most likely take place in the United States of America."
