Iran – Switzerland 12th February

PLDC - A friendly preparatory match between Iran and Switzerland will be held on 12/02/2003 in Iran with the aim of expanding friendly relations between the two countries and as the formal farewell match for Hamid Reza 
Esteeli, Iranian National Team player.

The arrangements for the Swiss National Team to arrive in Tehran on 11/02/2002 are in progress. It appears that Iranian legionnaires such as Ali Daei, Mehdi Mahdavikia and Rahamn Rezaei will be praised during the 
ceremonies. The match will take place at Azadi stadium which by then will be ready for use. The approval for the match has been given by Ivancovic, head coach of Iran’s National Team and the Swiss National Team will be arriving with its best players. 

In a letter to the Iranian Football Federation and Mohammad Ranjbar (National Teams supervisor) from the ‘Friendship Society of Iran and Switzerland’ the purpose of the match has been cited as follows:

1- The earnings from the match between Iran and Switzerland will be spent on the charity project planned by this organization which aims to rebuild the houses of earthquake victims in the Qazvin and Hamedan provinces plus the flood victims of the Golestan province.

2- Official farewell to the old hand of Iranian Football Hamid Esteeli, appreciation of Iranian legionnaires and creation of better relations between the football federations of both countries.
