PLDC - Tehran, The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has given Iran another month to hand in the proper documentation regarding its bid to host Asian Cup 2019.

Although the deadline for handing in the documentation was July 31st, the AFC has given a month extension to Iran.

The reason for this extension is that Iran's new government needs more time to produce the proper documentation for its football federation.

Other countries that wanted to host this tournament included: China, Thailand, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Out of these countries only Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are still eligible.

Saudi Arabia has assigned a special committee for attaining the rights to host this tournament. They are seriously pursuing this matter and have allocated many resources for it.
