Persianfootball.com – BRAUNSCHWEIG, Polish-Iranian goalkeeper Daniel Davari lost his fixed place at number one goalkeeper at Eintracht Braunschweig.

The 25-year-old had been promoted from reserve keeper to the starting keeper last season and helped Braunschweig to an almost certain promotion to German Bundesliga.

His achievements earned him a call-up to Iran’s national team last month but, although many had expected him to succeed the retired Mehdi Rahmati, remained on the bench in the Asian Cup qualifier in Kuwait.

However, after the 0-3 defeat to first placed Hertha on Monday, Davari was criticised for his shaky performance and now benched for veteran goalkeeper Petkovic in the 3-1 win over relegation-bound Sandhausen on Friday.

German sports magazine ‘kicker’ also confirmed Davari will no longer be Braunschweig’s number one and has been informed that the club is looking for a new young goalkeeper for German Bundesliga next season.

Davari has a contract until summer 2014 whereas Petkovic’s contract will run out a year later.

With just five rounds to go, Braunschweig stand in second position of the table, 13 points ahead of Kaiserslautern who occupy the playoff spot but have a game in hand.

Braunschweig were just promoted to Bundesliga 2 two seasons ago, back then with Petkovic as number one and the young Davari as backup.
