Esteghlal back on top, Persepolis held by Zob Ahan [VIDEO]



TEHRANTIMES - Esteghlal reclaimed top spot in the Iran Professional League (IPL) after a 2-0 victory over Gahar.


In the match held at the Azadi empty stadium, Javad Nekounam gave Esteghlal a lead in the 27th minute. Esteghlal Bolivian striker Vicente Arze Camacho was on target in the 43rd minute.

Persepolis was held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Zob Ahan in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium.

Vlatko Grozdanoski put Persepolis ahead in the 20th minute and Mehdi Rajabzadeh equalized the match in the 72nd minute.

Elsewhere, Sepasi drew 1-1 with Mes, Naft beat Damash 2-0, Saba defeated Saipa 2-1, Malavan played out a goalless draw against Paykan and Sanat Naft edged Rah Ahan 1-0.

Esteghlal moved top of the IPL table with 63 points, followed by Sepahan with 62 points.
