PLDC - Kuwait, In an interview after the match of Team Melli against Kuwait, Queiroz said that, “as predicted, we played against a team that concentrated on a counterattack strategy and we all take the blame for it, since we could not control the play and the referee did not accept it when we scored. Of course, I have to admit that the Kuwaiti team did not remain inactive and continued playing according to their plan and ultimately, they managed to score from a penalty shootout.”

He added, “It was a good play and I repeat that it was our own fault that we could not control the play and the referee assistant contributed to it since he did not let us score a goal. I don’t know why they failed to accept our sound goal. It is interesting to note that the referee announced that we scored the goal, but he changed his decision after consulting with his assistant. Unfortunately, I cannot express my opinion on the referee.”

In continuation, Queiroz said, “We knew that the Kuwaiti NO.7 player was a speedy player and our experienced players should have controlled this player, but they failed to do so and the referee announced a penalty. In fact, that was what we predicted. They scored a goal in their counterattack from the penalty point.”

At the end of his interview he added, “The Kuwaiti players enjoyed great motivation and they even strived very hard after scoring the goal.”
