Tehranchronicle - Moharram Navidkia, the captain of Sepehan FC, is currently one of the best midfielders of Iran Pro League. During the recent years, he has dealt with consecutive injuries making him unable to regain his top form. However, he has appeared in 25 matches for Iran’s senior national team scoring one goal against North Korea in 2004 AFC Asian Cup qualification.
Amir Ghalenoei, the former head coach of Sepahan FC, has called on Carlos Queiroz to invite Moharram for next games of Team Melli. His performance with Sepahan jersey in this season has impressed analysts in country. But Navidkia says he has not yet received any call from officials.
“I’m always thinking about Team Melli, but no one has contacted with me in this regard. I’m ready to give my best services to national football team if needed.” Moharram Navidkia told reporters after the match against Gahar Zagros.
Regarding the conditions of Team Melli in World Cup qualifications, he said: “Currently we have difficult situation in our group. But still it is possible for our players to defeat their opponents, and reach to 2014 FIFA World Cup. I believe in the potential of Iranian players.”
Moharram Navidkia bid his farewell to national team on December 2009. In May 2011, he was called up to Iran national team by Carlos Queiroz, but he rejected the offer due to his “several injuries and surgeries” which makes him unable to play for both national team and club.
