TEHRANTIMES - Iran moved one place up to 57th in the latest FIFA monthly rankings released by world football's governing body on Thursday.
Iran rose to 57th place with 540 points after the Persians thrashed Lebanon 5-0 in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifying campaign in Tehran on February 6.
Asian giant, Japan, has moved two places up to 26th and remains top of Asia. The Blue Samurais are trailed by Australia, South Korea and Iran, who are at the 39th, 47th and 57th spot respectively.
First-place Spain has 1610 points, 137 more than Germany. Argentina also remained in third place with 1309 points, followed by England, which with 1309 points is maintaining the No. 4 position it acquired in February after defeating Brazil.
Italy continues in fifth place with 1173 points, followed by Colombia with 1159 and Portugal with 1133. In February, both the latter teams had been tied with 1129 points each.
