TEHRANTIMES - Former Iranian football striker Nazem Ganjapour was laid to rest on Sunday in Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra cemetery.

The Iran and Persepolis striker died at the age of 70 after attending the 2013 Freestyle World Cup in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Family members, teammates, and fans attended the funeral, held in Tehran’s Shiroudi Stadium.

Ganjapour is the first Persepolis player who scored in Tehran derby against arch-rival Esteghlal.

He played just one match for the Iran football team against Pakistan on November 24, 1967.
