TEHRANTIMES - Former Esteghlal coach Parviz Mazloomi has been appointed as new coach of Aluminum.
On Monday, the 59-year-old coach replaced Akbar Misaghian in the Bandar Abbas-based football team.
Misaghian helped the team to promote to the Iran Professional League (IPL) last season.
Mazloomi has been without a team since parting company with Esteghlal in last season.
He will be assisted by Hans-Jurgen Gede and Atila Hejazi in Aluminum. Mazloomi will be introduced as the team’s new coach on Tuesday.
Mazloomi will work with his old foe, former Persepolis striker Eamon Zayed, who netted hat-trick against Estaghlal during 10 minutes last season.
“We’ve chosen Mazloomi since we think he can save our team from relegation. Misaghian led the team to the IPL but at the moment we need some changes to stay in the league,” Aluminum general manager Hossein Jabbarizadeh said.
Aluminum is 10 points above the relegation zone.
