TEHRANTIMES - Germany’s Eintracht Braunschweig keeper Daniel Davari has said that he is not interested in joining the Iran football team at the moment, a report says.
The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) recently opened an inquiry into German-Iranian keeper, but he declined the invitation, saying he wanted to concentrate on his club.
“At the moment, I want to concentrate on my team but I hope that I get a second chance. I will have to play in my club two days after Iran match against Lebanon and I think it would be better for me to stay here and concentrate on our match,” Davari was quoted as saying by German website braunschweiger-zeitung.de on Saturday.
Last week, Iran’s number one keeper Mehdi Rahmati withdrew from the national team due to certain undescribed problems.
However, it seems Rahmati decided to step down after the Iranian federation showed interest in inviting Davari to the national team.
Iran will play Lebanon in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on February 6.
