TEHRANTIMES - The 29-year-old striker struck twice against Mes in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium and became the Esteghlal's all-time leading scorer with 90 goals.


He broke Ali Jabbari’s record of 89. Borhani is second leading scorer in the Iranian current season with eight goals.

Jabbari offered his congratulations to Borhani for breaking his record after the match.

“My record in Esteghlal should have been broken. I am happy for the lovely boy and hopefully he will win more successes. I wished him all the best,” Jabbari said.  

The 66-year-old, who retired from football in 1974, played for Esteghlal between 1969 and 1974.

He also was a member of Iran football team and Played 37 games and netted 13 goals.
