TEHRANTIMES - Persepolis football team defeated Sepasi here on Sunday thanks to two goals from Gholamreza Rezaei and Karim Ansarifard.

In the match held at the Hafezieh Stadiun in Shiraz, Rezaei scored the fastest goal of the season after just 12 seconds into the match. Ansarifard extended Persepolis’s lead in the 24th minute and secured his team’s victory against Sepasi.

Persepolis moved up in the standings of Iran Professional League (IPL) to ninth place with 25 points after 19 weeks.

“We could have scored six goals but our strikers missed their chances. I think Sepasi is a very good team and I congratulate them for their performance against us,” Persepolis coach Yahya Golmohammadi said in the post-match news conference.

Elsewhere, struggling Gahar defeated Rah Ahan 2-1, Saba and Zob Ahan played out a goalless draw, Sanat Naft was held to a 1-1 draw by Malavan and Foolad edged Sepahan 1-0 in Isfahan.

Monday, IPL leader Esteghlal will face Saipa, Naft play Mes, Traktorsazi host Paykan and Damash face Aluminum.
