TEHRANTIMES - Iran football coach Carlos Queiroz is a candidate to take charge of New York Red Bulls, MLS Soccer reported.

New York Red Bulls still has not a head coach after the team’s long-rumored No. 1 target, Gary McAllister, is asking for more money than the Red Bulls is willing to offer.

Red Bulls has shortlisted some coaches for the vacant seat, including former Real Madrid and Iran coach Carlos Queiroz. The Portuguese has already coached MetroStars in 1996 season.

Carlos Queiroz was appointed as Iran football coach in April 2011 on a three-year deal.

Former Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle is also a candidate to take charge of the team.
