TEHRANTIMES - Esteghlal football team defeated Gahar of Dorud in Iran’s Hazfi Cup round of 16 on Saturday.

Esteghlal, who had defeated Saipa 4-0 in round of 32, saw off Gahar in Dorud’s Takhti Stadium 1-0.

Esteghlal’s new signing Amin Mousavi found the back of the net with a header in the 66th minute.

“We played better in the second half and put them under pressure. Also, I have to hail the Gahar’s fans since they just supported their team and respect us,” Esteghlal coach Amir Ghalenoei said.  

Esteghlal will play Abu Moslem of Mashhad in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on the quarterfinals round.
