TEHRANTIMES - Australia international player David Carney has traveled to Tehran to negotiate with Iran’s Persepolis football team to join them.
The 28-year old defender will train with the Tehran-based team for three days to show his potentials to Persepolis head coach Manuel Jose.
“It’s the first team I’ve come to Iran. I’ve heard that Persepolis is a popular team and I hope that I can show my best for the team,” Carney said.
“I know Persepolis is a big team with so many fans. I like to play in front of a 100,000 fans at the Azadi Stadium,” he added.
David Carney has made 46 appearances for Australia football team and scored six goals.
He has played for Sydney FC, Twente, Blackpool and Bunyodkor.
Manuel Jose rejected to sign former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah due to health reasons on Monday.
