Mideasttime - Because of the consistent instabilities in Syria, the country’s national football team will play its matches for 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification in Tehran, Iran.

Iran has positive political relations with Syria so it has accepted to host the matches of Syria national team. Asian Football Confederation has also confirmed this decision.

Syria begin their quest to reach the 2015 AFC Asian Cup on February 6, 2013, when they head to Muscat to face Oman national football team at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in their opening match in Group A, which also features Singapore and Jordan. Syria will also play against Jordan, Singapore and Oman on 22 March, 15 November and 19 November respectively in Tehran. Karaj’s Enghelab Stadium or Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex will host Syria’s matches.

It is worth noting that the 2015 AFC Asian Cup will be the 16th edition of the AFC Asian Cup. The finals will be hosted by Australia and held from 4 to 26 January 2015. The winner of the tournament will earn the right to compete for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup hosted by Russia.
