TEHRANTIMES - Iran football team crushed Tajikistan 6-1 in a friendly game held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Tuesday.
Ghasem Dehnavi (9th and 32th), Yaghub Karimi (13th and 33th), Ahmad Hassanzadeh (50th) and Alireza Abbasfard (89th) scored for Iran.
Sohib Savankolov scored the visitors’ sole goal in the 67th minute.
Iran is preparing for Uzbekistan match in the 2014 World Cup qualifier slated for November 14 in Tehran’s Azadi.
Iran is second in Group A with seven points. South Korea is first on goal difference. The Uzbeks are third with five points, one point ahead of Qatar and Lebanon.
“I am satisfied with the way my players played. It was a good opportunity for our reserve players to play. I think we have a difficult match against Uzbekistan,” Iran coach Carlos Queiroz said at the end of the match.
