TEHRANTIMES - Persepolis football coach Manuel Jose says that the Tehran-based team will be back on track soon.

Persepolis is 13th in current Iranian league and the Portuguese is under pressure to improve the team’s ranking.

“Honestly, we are progressing in the league matches and I am optimistic about the team’s future. We are going to make the fans happy. Persepolis will have to get results; however, to win the title is so difficult. I tell the fans: I will do my best to finish first,” Jose said on Saturday in Tehran.

“Persepolis must strengthen itself in the winter transfer window. We’ve missed our defensive midfielders due to injury and we are going to sign the new players for the role,” the 66-year-old said.

“If the fans trust us, we could be back on the right track. Persepolis needs their support. As I said before, I will do my best to win the title but you cannot assure your fans you win that because in football it’s impossible,” he added.

“Persepolis started the current league with the 17 new players and it takes time to organize the team. Many of them are playing together for the first time and it’s difficult to expect them show a good performance,” Jose concluded.
