PTV - Defending champion Sepahan has blanked Persepolis 2-0 at home in the ninth week of Iran’s Premier League (IPL).

The Reds were downed by Sepahan at Isfahan’s Fouladshahr stadium on Sunday to suffer from their fourth failure in the current season of IPL.

Midfielder Adel Kolahkaj put Sepahan upfront at the 50th minute of the match and Albanian striker Xhevahir Sukaj doubled the lead at the 73rd minute.

Persepolis is currently standing in the 15th place of the table with seven points.

Earlier on Friday, Damash Gilan edged past Rah Ahan 1-0, Teraktorsazi trounced Gahar Doroud 5-0, Saipa held off Peikan 2-1, Aluminum and Naft Abadan tied 1-1, Esteqlal and Fajr Sepasi played out a scoreless draw, and Foulad saw off Malavan 1-0.

Sepahan will take on Malavan, and Persepolis will play against Aluminum at the 10th week of IPL on Thursday.

Naft Tehran is now on top of the table with 18 points while Sepahan and Saipa stand in the second and third place each with 17 points.
