PFDC - TEHRAN, Sint Truiden striker Reza Ghoochannejhad is likely to join Iran's upcoming training camp and friendly match against Tunisia (August 14) in Hungary, according to the player's Twitter channel.
"Btwn 9th&16th of August on a trip with the national team of Iran (Team Melli) in Budapest, Hungary. We'll play a friendly game against Tunisia", the 24-year-old tweeted on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier, Iranian sources had reported the Mashad-born leftfooter would join Iran for the Tunisia match.
Iran boss Carlos Queiroz, who observed and visited the striker in Belgium three times will announce his roster at the beginning of next week.
Reportedly, Ghoochannejhad had already been ready to play for Iran earlier this year, but injuries and administrative issues delayed his debut.
Ghoochannejhad had gone through Dutch club's Heerenveen's youth team before being transferred to second league after just two senior appearances.
However, after 21 goals for Go Ahead Eagels and Cambuur SC within two seasons, the versatile striker was transferred to Sint Truiden in Belgium's top division last summer, where he had a great season with 11 goals in 21 games, but, also due to a nagging injury, couldn't prevent the club from relegation.
Despite interest from several Belgian, Dutch and German clubs, Ghoochannejhad is still with Sint Truiden, where he still has a contract until the end of next season.
Most recently, Austrian Bundesliga side Austria Vienna joined the bidders for Ghoochannejhad, who's market value is estimated around €1.3 millions.
